Communications
At various times throughout the year, EDD convenes Downtown Conversations. These meetings are held to allow downtowners to gather and discuss issues, plan programs, and meet government officials, assistance agencies, and each other. Topics for past meetings have included fire and health safety issues for business owners, parking rates and regulations, Arena construction updates, retail development on Elmira's Southside, and general forums. Additionally, EDD has hosted groups of downtowners for programs specific to their own interests. Downtown retailers have come together, as well as college and high school students, farmer's market vendors, and service businesses. In the future, these meetings will continue. We expect to host representatives of area churches, as well as those interested in information about new projects such as the Corning Community College branch campus proposal and the proposed municipal water district.If you have an idea for a Downtown Conversations topic or interest group, or have a submission for our newsletter, contact the Executive Director. |
