Located on the corner of Lake Street and Church Street in Downtown Elmira, the Elmira City Court is operated by the New York State Unified Court System. You must pass through a metal detector to gain access to the Courtrooms.

The Elmira City Court operates a Civil Court, a Criminal Court, and a Traffic Court. Civil Court is available for citizens and organizations to file a case for Small Claims, Commercial Claims, Counterclaims, or for summary proceedings (evictions). Criminal Court hears cases on a daily basis related to individuals who have been charged with a crime by a law enforcement agency. If you have received a traffic ticket infraction in the City of Elmira, you will need to appear before the court if you receive a misdemeanor, or you will make a plea to the court.
