HOUSING REHABILITATION ASSISTANT
The Elmira Urban Renewal Agency (also serving as the City of Elmira’s Department of Community Development) is seeking applicants for the above noted position. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. The position calls for the ability to work independently and the individual must possess strong interpersonal skill for interaction with the employees and the public. Proficient verbal and written skills are required. This highly responsible position reports to the Director of Community Development.
This position further entails the following skills: interacting with homeowners applying for housing assistance; maintaining an organized filing system for housing rehabilitation jobs; reviewing income documentation.

BUILDING INSPECTOR/CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
The City of Elmira currently has one part-time and one full-time position available. This is a Civil Service tested position. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and residency requirements to be tested. You must be reachable on the eligibility list for appointment to this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A) Graduation from an Accredited college/university or accredited by the NYS Board of Regents with an Associates Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Building Science; or
B) Graduation from high school or equivalency diploma & 2 years of experience in Building Construction work; or
C) Graduation from high school or equivalency diploma and possession of the Basic Code Enforcement Training Certification from the Office of Fire Prevention and Control.
Valid NYS drivers License throughout appointment. Must complete minimum basic code enforcement training within one year of appointment.
SALARY RANGE: $34,706 – $41,183.

DIRECTOR OF CODE INSPECTION SERVICES
The City of Elmira is seeking to hire a full-time position.. This position may be a Civil Service tested position. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and residency requirements to be tested and reachable on the eligibility list for appointment to this position.
Highly responsible position and must be able to work in a fast paced office.
This position involves constant public contact.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A) Graduation from an accredited college or university or accredited by the NYS Board of Regents with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture or Building Science or related field and two years of experience in building construction work, one year of which must have involved supervisory experience; or
B) Graduation from an accredited college or university or accredited by the NYS Board of Regents with an Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture or Building Science or related field and four years of experience in building construction work, one year of which must have involved supervisory experience; or
C) Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and six years of experience in building construction work, one year of which must have involved supervisory experience; or
D) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of A & B.
Valid NYS drivers license throughout appointment. Must complete code enforcement training as required by the NYS Dept. Codes Division and the City of Elmira within one year of appointment.
SALARY RANGE; $47,240 – 55,127
