Homicide Investigation June 20th 2022 ***UPDATE***

The victim in this case is identified as Ervin L Mosley, a 55 year old resident of Elmira,  N.Y.



On Saturday, June 18th, 2022, at around 2:55 AM, officers responded to the 400 block of W Clinton Street for a report of gunshots. Upon arrival to the area, several resident indicated that the hooter had possibly ran into the residence of 424 W Clinton Street.

Officers converged on the location and immediately encountered a male exiting the residence holding an AK-47 rifle. Officers engaged the subject with orders to drop the weapon in which he complied. The subject did not comply with follow up instructions and was subsequently taken into custody through taser deployment. He was not injured.

Officers then cleared the residence and located a gunshot victim inside one of the bedrooms. The victim was transported to a local hospital however succumbed to his injuries a short time after arrival.

A search warrant was obtained and the residence was processed by Evidence Technician Team.

In addition to the AK-47 the subject was in possession of, officers located two 9mm Glock handguns, one being a ghost gun with a 50 round drum attachment. A Mauser bolt action rifle and numerous clips, magazines and ammunition were located inside the residence.

The investigation is ongoing however information obtained so far indicates that this incident was born from a domestic dispute over property and that there are no further concerns about potential danger to the community.

TAIWAN L. DENNARD, 42 of Elmira, has been charged with Murder in the Second Degree, a Class A-1 Felony, and is being held in Elmira City Lock Up pending arraignment in Elmira City Court.
