Gun Shots- Franklin St. June 20th 2022

On 6/20/2022, around 3:20pm, Elmira Police Officers were dispatched to the area of the 200 block of Franklin St on the report of several people shooting in the street.

As Officers were responding they were provided information from numerous witnesses about the people in the area and vehicles leaving the scene. Officers arrived and located evidence of the shooting and other Officers located 2 vehicles involved several blocks away. A 15 year old female was found to have a non-life threatening gun-shot wound and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Numerous subjects were interviewed and a search warrant was executed on a residence on Franklin St.   Elmira Police Officers recovered more than a dozen spent shell casings fired from multiple weapons and a semi-automatic handgun was recovered.

It is believed that the people involved were known to each other and this is not a random act of violence. No one has been arrested at this time, but charges may be filed in the future.
