Subject: Weapons Arrest
On 6/21/22 at approximately 12:40 A.M. Elmira City Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on South Ave near S. Main St. During the traffic stop officers observed the barrel of a shotgun concealed under clothing in the rear of the vehicle. Officers furthered the investigation and located two handguns, a 9mm and a .40 caliber in the vehicle. It was later learned that one of the handguns was reported as stolen from a residence in the City of Elmira in 2019.
While speaking with the occupants one of the passengers fled the scene on foot. He was located and arrested after being found hiding behind a shed at a nearby residence. The Elmira Police Department was assisted by the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office. As a result of this investigation, the following have been charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree:
Kyler J. Brenzo, an 18 year old male from Elmira;
Juwan E. Brooks, a 25 year old male from Elmira;
Levon D. Loyd, a 23 year old male from Elmira;
A 16 year old juvenile male from Elmira
