The City of Elmira is currently recruiting for 2 full time positions as a Public works Specialist 1 in our Buildings and Grounds Department. Duties include, but are not limited to, maintenance, construction and operation of a munial public service system Responsible for maintaining parks, mowing, raking, cleaning/clearing debris, snow, ice, leaves, and trash, etc.
This is a trainee position and employee must be qualified as a Public Works Specialist II. Class D license or Class B permit must be maintained throughout appointment in this title. Possession of a Class B license is required within nine (9) months from date of appointment.

The City of Elmira is recruiting a solid waste specialist.
The City of Elmira is currently accepting applications for a Solid Waste Specialist I or II. This position involves the responsibility for the operation of automotive equipment and for learning the duties and routines for the collection and disposal of solid waste.
Minimum qualifications include: a high school diploma or equivalent. Possession of a NYS commercial Driver's License Class B with the appropriate endorsements of a learner's permit which must be maintained throughout appointment in this title. Completion of National Safety Council Safe Driving course and a Class B license is required prior to the end of training period.
There will be a minimum probationary period of not less than 8 weeks up to 52 weeks.

The Elmira Police Department is currently recruiting for a part-time Kennel Worker in the Animal Control Department. Daily duties include cleaning and maintaining the Animal Control Shelter, meeting with the public, answering the phone, and additional duties as assigned.
