The Elmira Police Department Community Response Team (CRT) is comprised of 17 members of the Elmira Police Department. These members are of various ranks within the department and are overseen by a designated Officer in Charge (OIC).
Members of the CRT are generally tasked with extra patrols to combat ongoing quality of life issues, weapons related incidents and assist the Drug Enforcement Unit with street level narcotics investigations. CRT utilizes different tactics such as Bicycle Patrol and Foot Patrol and often deploys to high crime areas when there are upticks in violence in a given neighborhood.
The CRT is also made available for community related events throughout the City of Elmira as well as educational events to promote the image of the Elmira Police Department and to build bonds with members of the community.
